The community has spawned various forums and useful resources over the years. Here are some of the more notable ones.

Doomworld

Doomworld is the oldest unofficial fan website dedicated to the Doom games. The site was founded on March 13, 1998 by Andrew Stine (Linguica), Gaston Lahaut (Mordeth), and Javier Heredia (Dukrous); the site began as part of the AtomicGamer network of TeleFragged, LLC. It became an independent website following the shutdown of Atomic Gamer on July 25, 2015. Of the original founders, only Stine and Lahaut remain.

In addition to Doom related news, Doomworld also hosted the weekly /newstuff Chronicles reviews of new WADs uploaded to the idgames archive and a database of the archive with search, user comment, and mirror access capabilities. The site also provides informational resources about Doom and associated games, hosting of Doom websites, and a forum.

With the rise of chat apps like Discord, Doomworld has arguably become less relevant over the years, yet the community continues to share mods and projects on the forums. For this reason alone, it is still worth checking out.

ZDoom forums & Wiki

The ZDoom forums are the official support and discussion forums for the ZDoom (now GZDoom) source port. Hosted and administered by Marisa Heit (Randi) and Sterling Parker (Caligari87) on zdoom.org, they are split into two main areas, "Development" for bug reports and feature suggestions, and "Discussion" for editing and usage questions, modding projects, and general ZDoom topics.

The news section is integrated into the ZDoom.org frontpage, and the off-topic section is automatically pruned of old topics after 90 days of inactivity. The forums run under phpBB software, with some minor tweaks coded by Marisa Heit (Randi) notably to better integrate the ZDoom wiki into the forum.

They also have a discord Server, which is especially useful for modders who want to troubleshoot their problems.

Doom Wiki

The Doom Wiki is a community project with the goal of documenting everything related to id Software's classic games Doom and Doom II, next generation games including Doom 3, Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal, and other games based on the Doom engine. The Doom Wiki was founded by Fredrik Johansson on January 5, 2005.

The aim of this project is to cover the games themselves, as well as other games with significant homages or notable relationships to Doom.

Doomerboards

Doomer Boards were founded under the name Dumbworld on August 12, 2015, by Kontra Kommando as a board for discussing politics and later to post reviews of Doom modifications. On October 21, 2015, the site was renamed to Doomer Boards. Kontra Kommando passed admin rights to Jon Vail (40oz) on September 23, 2017. In 2018 Doomer Boards Projects were started, which were well received. Two of its installments would later be named runners-up at Cacowards in 2019 (DBP16) and in 2021 (DBP37).

Since its original creation, they've created dozens of projects, many of which are quite famous (e.g. DBP16: Cyb's Freaky Colonoscopy , which I happened to contribute to!).
